Fashion is unconditionally intertwined with art—a boundless source of inspiration that breathes life into design. At AVENIR, this connection is more than aesthetic; it’s a philosophy that defines our approach to fashion. For AVENIR’s upcoming AW25/26 Collection, we explore how fashion becomes art, not only through the beauty it creates but also through the stories it tells.
Nestled in Kreuzberg between green park spaces, Landwehrkanal, and urban Berlin, we met at Arthur Laidlaw’s studio with him, his partner Kristina and their sweet son Rudi, as we captured some snapshots before our upcoming collaboration for the AW25/26 showcase.
Natural light fills the studio, with hints of family presence weaving amongst walls adorned with colourful abstract works, the space blends personal warmth with professional creativity. A dynamic, collaborative studio, showcasing a love for bold, expressive paintwork.
‘The artist’s studio’ as well as Arthur and Kristina’s partnership are among the inspirations for our upcoming collection, celebrating the craftsmanship and artistry behind the works and at the heart of the atelier. Our focus is on blending artisanal skill with design, honoring the creator’s process and material integrity. The AVENIR community—mindful, cosmopolitan individuals passionate about contemporary art and fashion—also fueled this vision.
Kristina is the founder of compose PR, a Berlin-based agency specialising in mindful, inclusive fashion and cultural strategies. Brought together in 2021 by shared values on sustainable fashion and Kristina’s interest in the Olivia Dress, Kristina became AVENIR’s first PR representative. Having worked together on multiple projects and two fashion shows, Kristina quickly became a person of inspiration to AVENIR with her keen eye for detail and a passion for authentic storytelling. Her work reflects a seamless blend of elegance and intent, catering to brands that value meaningful connections.
Kristina writes a personal newsletter on consuming less and better, while making more out of her existing wardrobe, Things I Didn’t Buy This Week. Each post artfully captures the beauty of restraint, celebrating the allure of what could have been. Through her witty commentary and aesthetically pleasing visuals, Kristina inspires her audience to rethink their relationship with material desires, all while indulging in the joy of discovery. You can read her recent post here, including some insight on our SS25 AVENIR Fritz Denim Set which both Kristina and Arthur wore during our studio shoot.
Through Kristina we came to meet her lovely partner Arthur. Arthur Laidlaw is a British visual artist whose work delves into the intricate relationship between history and memory. Based in Berlin and London, he channels raw, unfiltered creativity into his painting, employing a layered painting technique to explore how we perceive and interact with our surroundings.
Sophie long admired Arthur’s work, style and expressionism. Having spoken in the past about possible collaborations, in early November 2024, at Arthur’s studio warming, the collaboration came to be realised as more than a conversation. For AVENIR’s upcoming AW25/26 showcase Arthur would use AVENIR pieces as his canvas and AVENIR Arthur’s work as their canvas thus together producing three art-showpieces for the Galleria collection showcase.
This collaboration breathes life into the fashion philosophy and the core inspiration behind the collection, that fashion is not just clothing but art—a living, evolving expression of creativity, culture, and history. Through this partnership, both art and fashion merge to tell a compelling story, pushing the boundaries of what it means to create and wear art.
Arthur and Kristina bring AVENIR’s brand vision to life: celebrating individuality and authenticity, while staying grounded in sustainable and mindful practices. More on our collaboration with Arthur will be showcased on the 2nd of February at The Chateau Royal for Galleria AW25/26 showcase for Berlin Fashion Week.
